Under the supervision of our Proprietor Maureen Healy RGN, Clinical Nurse Manager Patricia MacGabhann and Deputy Laura Finnerty RGN, we have a dedicated team of registered nurses, senior and junior carers.

Staff are selected for their keen interest in care of the elderly, gerontology sadly still the Cinderella of the caring professions. Staff are inducted into the ethos of patient-centred, policy driven nursing care. The dignity, rights and choice of the elderly person underpin the caring work of the team.

Under the careful supervision of our clinical nurse specialists, are our team of registered nurses, who in turn are responsible for the quality of care of staff working with them.

A senior and junior carer structure has been established to acknowledge and suitably reward those dedicated carers whose work is exemplary. They have been able to demonstrate their skill and dedication primarily to the elderly person within their care and secondly to the ethos ‘striving for excellence’ that has become the motto of the home.

A registered nurse is on duty at all times and is available to answer queries from other staff members, residents and relatives.

Maureen Healy RGN - General Manager As a qualified nurse Maureen has many years of experience both in the UK and Ireland specialising in the care of elderly people. She has worked as a Management Consultant and a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Patricia MacGabhann RGN – Clinical Nurse Manager. Patricia is a relatively new member of the team in Nightingale. She has a background primarily in Acute Medical Nursing and care of the Elderly. She is committed to ongoing professional development for both herself and the nursing staff in Nightingale and sees this is integral to providing holistic care for our residents.

Laura Finnerty RPN RGN – Deputy Manager Qualified in general and psychiatric nursing. Laura has many years experience in Care of older people in Ireland and the UK. Laura is a valued member of the team and has been with Nightingale since it was established in 1996.

Kathleen Geraghty RPN – Senior Staff Nurse Qualified as a psychiatric nurse. Kathleen has many years experience in care of older people. Kathleen has also been with Nightingale since its beginning and is a loyal member of our team.
